Summer Hats: The Best Ones That Really Protect You from the Sun

Protecting your skin from the sun should be your number one priority during summer days. Besides sunscreen, wearing sun- protective clothes and avoiding sun in general, you should consider wearing summer hats as well. Summer hats come in different shapes and designs, and are a recommended piece of equipment against sun burns. The skin on your face and neck is very sensitive, and the strong, midday, summer sun can easily leave you with burns if you don't protect it. Here are the most popular trends in summer hats:

1. Straw hats – People wearing these summer hats can be seen almost everywhere: on the beach , working in the garden, and even walking in the park! Straw is a relatively loose material and therefore very comfortable for wearing it in summer. Due to the light material, your head is able to breathe through the hat. But, if your hat doesn't have a woven material lining the inside of the hat, you won't get the much needed sun protection. 
2. Baseball cap -  everybody owns a baseball cap! And not only for a game, but these caps are a huge trend and a great accessory to your everyday street style. As for protecting you from the sun, they aren't fully effective as they don't provide protection of your ears, neck and the back of your head. However, they're amazing for covering your face and the tip of your nose. Add a little sunscreen to the exposed parts of your skin and try to sit in shades.
3. Flap hats – a flap hat is basically a baseball hat with flaps that fall down and cover your ears and neck. Now this is not exactly the fashionable accessory and you may feel uncomfortable wearing it in public, but in the name of sun protection, you can make an exception.
4. Bucket hat -  the bucket hat is something you would most likely see in fisherman. They are quite similar to the flap hats and offer most of the same protections. Just to be sure, always put sunscreen when wearing a bucket hat.
5. A cowboy hat – a cowboy hat is a huge fashion accessory and offers good sun protection at the same time. It's good because it offers protection of the ears , forehead and neck.
6. Wide-brimmed hat – wide brim hats are probably the best type of summer hats. The wide brim covers all: your face, forehead, neck, back and ears. When you look for  wide brimmed summer hats, make sure the brim is at least 7 centimeters. In addition, look for hats made from SPF 30+ material to add even more protective layers.
