As someone who proudly admits to be a fashion fanatic, just like the charming Carrie Bradshaw from my favourite TV-series Sex and the City, the struggle of keeping my closet organized is nothing compared to my urge to buy new shoes every week. I've been captivated by the creativity of fashion designers such as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang and Ralph Lauren since I was a little girl. My favourite thing to do after I got back from school was going through my fashion magazines, that I made my dad buy me every month, and read all about the latest womens fashion accessories. I also remember sneaking into my mum's room and trying her wonderful dresses and elegant high heels. I would make a complete mess, so she would often warn me not to come anywhere close to her wardrobe. But, I simply couldn't resist myself, plus I loved tidying up my mum's closet as a “punishment” and admire her collection of coats, dresses, shoes and accessories. To be honest her style has always been so simple yet classy and unique at the same time that to this day she is my biggest style inspiration.
My dearest childhood memories would definitely have to be watching fashion shows with my mum and putting together outfits for my best friend Lizzy (she would be my model while I was a famous designer). Now that I'm in my twenties I still enjoy helping my friends put together a killer outfit, whether that be for a fun night out, a formal event or a more special occasion. I find style inspiration from fashion magazines, red carpet events and of course let's not forget the biggest source of style creativity and new trends- fashion week.
London Fashion Week ended just a few days ago and as much I wanted to fly to London to enjoy all the fashion shows in person, unfortunately I couldn't because I do have a regular job besides being a devoted fashion lover. But, despite my busy work schedule, I did find time to watch a few fashion shows on TV and all the gorgeous designs and accessories gave me a lot of inspiration for putting together some new chic outfits. As much as I was tempted to buy new clothing pieces I knew that my wardrobe is full with more than enough clothes to last me a lifetime.
I have a floral skirt that I bought at the beginning of summer and I never got the chance to wear it, so I figured now is the time to let it shine. For my casual outfit I paired the skirt with a simple white tank top, while for a more dressy look I went for my elegant beige shirt with golden details that goes perfectly with the floral design. When it comes to accessorizing this is the part of creating a stylish look that I love the most. As a firm believer that you can never have too many accessories, I decided to spice up my outfits with some new statement details.
As the queen of the latest womens fashion accessories I had to get my hands on a chic wide brim fedora. I went for a black one with a classic design that would compliment any outfit. I also got a structured shoulder bag in beige to go with my shirt and a pair of gold aviator glasses. I couldn't resist getting at least one accessory for the upcoming autumn season, so I picked up a patterned scarf that is a staple item of my autumn outfits.
Whether you are a fashionista or someone who doesn't really care about trends and fashion, I do believe that how you dress speaks a lot about who you are and what you like. My friend Mark is the perfect example for this. He loves rock music and his “go to” t-shirts are the ones that have the logo of his favourite rock band AC/DC and he has one for literally any occasion.
But back to my topic, I see clothing pieces and accessories as means of expressing my personality and with each outfit I try to tell a different fashion story that would make a statement, draw attention but most importantly reflect my unique fashion sense. Being a fashionista in the real sense of the word is not about strictly following the trends, but creating an individual style that would make you stand out of the crowd and allow you to put your own creative touch on the fashion scene.
